Duas of Salah with Pronunciation and Meaning

Opening Takbeer (Start of Prayer):

اَللَّهُ اَكْبَرُ

Transliteration: Allahu ‘Akbar.

Translation: Allah is the greatest.

Dua of Sana at the beginning of Salah:

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ، وَلَا إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ

Transliteration: Subhaanaka Allaahumma wa bihamdika, wa tabaarakasmuka, wa ta’aalaa jadduka, wa laa ‘ilaaha ghayruk.

Translation: Glory is to You O Allah, and praise. Blessed is Your Name and Exalted is Your Majesty. There is none worthy of worship but You.

Dua in Rukoo 1:

Say this tasbeeh at least three times:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration: Subhaana Rabbiyal-‘Adheem.

Translation: Glory to my Lord the Exalted.

Dua in Rukoo 2:

Say this tasbeeh at least three times:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

Transliteration: Subhaana Rabbiyal-‘Adheem wa bihamdihi.

Translation: Glory and praise be to my mighty Lord.

Dua in Rukoo 3:

سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوْحِ

Transliteration: Subboohun, Quddoosun, Rabbul-malaa’ikati warrooh.

Translation: Glory (to You), Most Holy (are You), Lord of the angels and the Spirit.

Ayesha (RA) said that Rasulullah (ﷺ) used to recite it in rukoo and sujood.

Dua in Rukoo 4:

‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (RA) said that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say in bowing and prostration:

سُبْحَانَكَ وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوْبُ اِلَيْكَ

Transliteration: Subhaanaka wa bihamdika, ‘astaghfiruka wa ‘atoobu ‘ilayk.

Translation: Glory is to You O Allah, and praise. I ask you for forgiveness and I turn to you (from sinning).

Dua in rukoo 5:

سُبْحَانَكَ اَللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ، اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي

Transliteration: Subhaanaka Allaahumma Rabbanaa wa bihamdika Allahum-maghfir lee.

Translation: Glory is to You, O Allah, our Lord, and praise is Yours. O Allah, forgive me.

Dua in Rukoo 6:

سُبْحَانَكَ اَللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Transliteration: Subhaanaka allahumma wa bihamdika, laa ilaaha illaa anta.

Translation: O Allah glory is to You; there is no worthy of worship except You.

Dua while rising from Rukoo:

سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ

Transliteration: Sami’Allahu liman hamidah.

Translation: Allah hears whoever praises Him.

رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ

Transliteration: Rabbanaa lakal-hamd.

Translation: Our Lord, to You be the praise.

رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ

Transliteration: Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd.

Translation: Our Lord and to You be the praise.

رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ، حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ

Transliteration: Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd, hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feeh.

Translation: Our Lord, praise is Yours, abundant, holy and blessed praise.

Dua while Prostrating [Sujood] 1:

Say at least three times:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى

Transliteration: Subhaana Rabbiyal-A’laa.

Translation: Glory is to my Lord, the Most High.

Say at least three times:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى وَبِحَمْدِهِ

Transliteration: Subhaana Rabbiyal-A’laa wa bihamdihi.

Dua while sitting between two Prostrations [Sujood] 2:

اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَعَافِنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي

Transliteration: Allahum-maghfir lee, warhamnee, wa ‘aafinee, wahdinee, warzuqnee.

Translation: O Allah! Pardon me, have mercy on me, guide me, and grant me sustenance.

Tashahhud:

اَلتَّحِيَّاتُ الْمُبَارَكَاتُ الصَّلَوَاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ لِلَّهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَّا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ

Transliteration: Attahiyyaatul muba’rakaatus salawaatut, tayyibaatu lillaahi, assalaamu ‘alayka ‘ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu, assalaamu ‘alaynaa wa ‘alaa ‘ibaadillaahis-saaliheen. ‘Ash-hadu ‘an laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllahu wa ‘ash-hadu ‘anna Muhammadar Rasoolullaah.

Translation: All the blessed compliments and all the holy prayers are only for Allah. Peace be on you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and blessings (are on you). And peace be on us and on the good (pious) worshipers of Allah.I bear witness that there is no true God except Allah. I further testify that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah.

Prayers (Durud) upon the Prophet (ﷺ) after tashahhud:

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ اَللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ

Transliteration: Allaahumma salli ‘alaa Muhammadin wa ‘alaa ‘aali Muhammadin, kamaa sallayta ‘alaa ‘Ibraaheema wa ‘alaa ‘aali ‘Ibraaheema, ‘innaka Hameedun Majeed. Allaahumma baarik ‘alaa Muhammadin wa ‘alaa ‘aali Muhammadin, kamaa baarakta ‘alaa ‘Ibraaheema wa ‘alaa ‘aali ‘Ibraaheema, ‘innaka Hameedun Majeed.

Translation: O Allah, bestow Your favor on Muhammad (ﷺ) and on the family of Muhammad as You have bestowed Your favor on Ibrahim and on the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad (ﷺ) and the family of Muhammad as You have blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.

Dua Mathurah 1:

Protection from punishment of the grave, trials of life, death & Dajjal, from sin & debt:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْـيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْمَأْثَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ

Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oodhu bika min ‘adhaabil-qabr, wa ‘a’oodhu bika min fitnatil-maseehid-dajjaal, wa ‘a’oodhu bika min fitnatil-mahyaa wal-mamaat. Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oodhu bika minal-ma’thami wal-maghram.

Translation: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the False Messiah, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from sin and from debt.

Dua Mathurah 2:

اَللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ، وَشُكْرِكَ، وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘a’innee ‘alaa dhikrika, wa shukrika, wahusni ‘ibaadatik.

Translation: O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to perform Your worship in the best manner.

Dua Mathurah 3:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘innee ‘as’alukal-jannata wa ‘a’oodhu bika minan-naar.

Translation: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and seek Your protection from the Fire.

Dua after Salaam 1:

Say three times:

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ

Transliteration: Astaghfirullaah.

Translation: I ask Allah for forgiveness.

Dua after Salaam 2:

Say once:

اَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘Antas-Salaam wa minkas-salaam, tabaarakta yaa Dhal-Jalaali wal-‘Ikraam.

Translation: O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of majesty and honor.

Dua after Salaam 3:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اَللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَلَا مُعْطِىَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ، وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ

Transliteration: Laa ilaaha ill-Allahu wa’hdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-‘hamdu wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer, Allaahumma laa maani‛a li maa a‛tayta, wa laa mu‛tiya li maa mana‛ta wa laa yanfa‛u dhal-jaddi minkal-jaddu.

Translation: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and and He is Able to do all things. O Allah, none can prevent what You have willed to bestow and none can bestow what You have willed to prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit anyone, as from You is all wealth and majesty.

Ayatul Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2: 255):

After every prescribed (Fardh) salah, Ayatul Kursi should be recited once:

اَللّٰهُ لَآ إِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُۥ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُۥ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِى يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِۦ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَـُٔودُهُۥ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Transliteration: Allahu laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoom, laa ta’khudhuhu sinatun wa laa nawm, lahu maa fis-samaawaati wa maa fil-‘ardhi, man dhal-ladhee yashfa’u ‘indahu ‘illaa bi’idhnihi, ya’lamu maa bayna ‘aydeehim wa maa khalfahum, wa laa yuheetoona bishay’im-min ‘ilmihi ‘illaa bimaa shaa’a, wasi’a kursiyyuhus-samaawaati wal ‘ardh, wa laa ya’ooduhu hifdhuhumaa, wa Huwal-‘Aliyyul- ‘Adheem

Translation: Allah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.”

Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falaq and Surah Nas:

After every prescribed (Fardh) salah, Surah Ikhlas One Time:

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّـهُ أَحَدٌ ﴿١﴾ اللَّـهُ الصَّمَدُ ﴿٢﴾ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ﴿٣﴾ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ ﴿٤﴾

Transliteration: Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem. (1) Qul HuwAllahu ‘Ahad. (2) Allahus-Samad. (3) Lam yalid wa lam yoolad. (4) Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ‘ahad.

Translation: In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. (1) Say, “He is Allah, [who is] One, (2) Allah, the Eternal Refuge. (3) He neither begets nor is born, (4) Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”

Surah Falaq One Time:

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ﴿١﴾ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ﴿٢﴾ وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ﴿٣﴾ وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ﴿٤﴾ وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ﴿٥﴾

Transliteration: Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem. (1) Qul ‘A’oodhu birabbil-falaq. (2) Min sharri maa khalaq. (3) Wa min sharri ghaasiqin ‘ithaa waqab. (4) Wa min sharrin-naffaathaati fil-‘uqad. (5) Wa min sharri haasidin ‘ithaa hasad.

Translation: In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. (1) Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak (2) From the evil of that which He created (3) And from the evil of darkness when it settles (4) And from the evil of the blowers in knots (5) And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”

Surah Nas One Time:

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ﴿١﴾ مَلِكِ النَّاسِ ﴿٢﴾ إِلَـٰهِ النَّاسِ ﴿٣﴾ مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ ﴿٤﴾ الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ ﴿٥﴾ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ ﴿٦﴾

Transliteration: Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem. (1) Qul ‘A’oodhu birabbin-naas. (2) Malikin-naas. (3) ‘Ilaahin-naas. (4) Min sharril-waswaasil-khannaas. (5) Allathee yuwaswisu fee sudoorin-naas. (6) Minal-jinnati wannaas.

Translation: In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. (1) Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (2) The Sovereign of mankind. (3) The God of mankind, (4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer – (5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind – (6) From among the jinn and mankind.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite surah ikhlaas, falaaq and naas once after every obligatory prayer. [1] After magrib and ‘ishaa prayer he used to recite three times. [2].

33 times “Subhanallah”, “Alhamdulillah” and “Allahu Akbar”:

33 times “Subhanallah”

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

Transliteration: SubhaanAllah.

Translation: How perfect Allah is.

33 times “Alhamdulillah”

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Transliteration: Alhamdu lillaah.

Translation: All praise is for Allah.

33 times “Allahu Akbar”

اَللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Transliteration: Allahu ‘Akbar.

Translation: Allah is the greatest.

…and then say one time:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration: Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illAllahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku walahul-hamdu wahuwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in Qadeer.

Translation: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without any partner, to Him belong all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.

Whoever says these after every prayer will be forgiven his sins even though they be as the foam of the sea.
