“May Allah be good to you, one of the brothers is asking about the methodology of the Khawarij. Who is the leader of this methodology, when did it spread, and did anyone from the caliphs combat it?”
Answer:
“The Khawarij are those who draw away from the obedience to the leader of the Muslims, they rebel, and they fight the Muslims. And they declare the Muslim to be a disbeliever on account of the sin which is lesser than shirk. The major sin which is lesser shirk, due to it, they declare him to be a disbeliever (make takfir on him). Thus they gather between two crimes, the crime of making takfir on account of the major sins which are lesser than shirk and the crime of rebelling and disuniting the Jama’ah (Muslims). And a third crime and it is the killing of the Muslims. He (the Prophet) sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, informed that the Khawarij fight the people of Imaan and leave alone the worshippers of idols. And this is their practice in every time. You will find their aggression directed towards the Muslims and the Muslim societies. And the first one who fought them was the leader of the believers ‘Alee ibn Abee Talib, may Allah be pleased with him. Then after him the caliphs and leaders continued in fighting them. And indeed the Prophet sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said about them: “Every time a fraction from them emerges it will be cut off”. And all the praises and thanks belong to Allah. Allah facilitates for them someone who extinguishes their fitnah (trial). Yes.”

الجواب : الخوارج هم الذين يخرجون عن طاعة ولي أمر المسلمين ، يشقون عصا الطاعة ، ويقاتلون المسلمين ، ويكفرون المسلم بالمعصية التي دون الشرك ، الكبيرة التي دون الشرك يكفرونه بها ، فهم يجمعون بين جريمتين ، جريمة التكفير بالكبائر التي دون الشرك ، وجريمة شق عصا الطاعة وتفريق الجماعة ، وجريمة ثالثة وهي قتل المسلمين ، أخبر صلى الله عليه وسلم أن الخوارج يقاتلون أهل الإيمان ويدعون أهل الأوثان ، وهذا دأبهم في كل زمان تجد تسلطهم على المسلمين وعلى مجتمعات المسلمين ، وأول من قاتلهم أمير المؤمنين على بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه ، ثم توالى من بعده الخلفاء وولاة الأمور في قتالهم ، فقد قال صلى الله عليه وسلم عنهم : “كلما ظهر منهم قرن قُطِع” ، والحمد لله ييسر الله لهم من يخمد فتنتهم . نعم .
